  • Additional information for school groups
A visit to the KL Plaszow Memorial site is aimed both to make young people familiar with the history of the former Plaszow camp, and to broaden their knowledge of Kraków and its citizens during the occupation. Although focused on the time of World War II, the narration conveys the full complexity of the site’s history. The archive pre-war photographs, maps and 3D models give the school pupils a complete picture of the subject matter, and their visit to the Memorial site, focused not only on the war narrative, will be an experience that develops awareness rather than causing emotional trauma. The guided tour program is developed in line with the curriculum for senior primary school grades, considering the emotional sensitivity and age of participants.

We encourage teachers to conduct a lesson introducing young people to the topics of World War II and the Holocaust. Educational materials prepared by the Museum may be helpful, such as ‘KL Plaszow. 4 km distant from Kraków’s Main Square’, available in the tab: Education –> Educational Materials.

Considering the character of the site and type of contents presented, we recommend that the participants be aged 14 or over.

The Museum is included in the ‘Get to Know Poland’ program promoted by the Ministry of Education and Science.
