KL Plaszow. Archeologia Miejsca Pamięci / KL Plaszow. The Archaeology of Memorial Site
wersja polsko-angielska /Polish-English version
The Kraków Museum carried out a comprehensive project of archaeological surveys in the former camp area in 2016-2019. The camp archive was destroyed; hence few documents, photographs, maps and accounts of survivors provide the principal source of knowledge of the KL Plaszow. A new category of historical sources was revealed during archaeological surveys. The surveys uncovered relics of buildings, camp infrastructure and thousands of artefacts. The objects depicted in the book represent both the past of the camp and the research process. The photo book is divided into two sections; the first section popularizes the research process and initial results of excavations. The second, catalogue section contains photographs of selected historical objects that illustrate various aspects of existence in the camp.
The book was published as part of the project named “Research and educational projects preserving and promoting the KL Plaszow memorial site as part of the Museum’s Memory Route”, co-financed by the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage and the Kraków Municipality, and conducted by the Kraków Museum in 2018-2019.
